I also am a direct descendent of John Lawrence Hester (John - Henry Hester- Zachariah Hester - Joseph Hester - Frank Hester - Harold Hester - Viola Hester - and then me). I have a zeroxed copy of Martin's book that I have used for years and I have severa hundred of the Ohio Hester's listed in my family tree files. My cousins still own part of the Henry Hester farm and mill location that he purchased in Ohio at the beginning of the 1800s after leaving PA. I'll be glad to correspond with you and help you if I can.

traced back as far as Zachariah Hester married to Diana Barnett and William his son married to Nancy Barnett born around 1764 and 1794 Camden NC or SC. looking for answers and prior ancestry. Robert B. Hester born Feb. 12, 1819 married to Louisa Gatlin in Troup Co.,GA later moved to Randolph and Colquitt Co. GA, his son Zachary Taylor Hester married to Carrie (Caroline) Gilbert, their son Robert Bennett Hester married to Maggie L. Boyd are my grandparents. I have a recopied copy of the Stough-Hester genealogy, which follows the line of Francis, b.Feb. 13, 1767 and married to Mary Hodgson of North Carolina. I am missing links before Francis, but have information on recent history following Jesse, son of Fran is, Thomas Cook Hester, and Simon, son of Thomas- my grandfather. I know the lineage, but would love to know more of the actual history.

John Hester Jr. was my gg-grandfather. I'm also descended from the Stough's through my g-grandmother Mary Jane Bierbower, who married William Henry Harrison Hester. I purchased a re-print of the Hester-Stough book from Higginson Book Co. Thanks for transcribing it here for those relatives who may not have the book.

First, the Hester-Stough genealogy is available from Higginson Book Company. That is where I got mine so do not waste your time copying. Second, later research has shown that John Lawrence Hoerster/Hester was named John Christian Hoerster/Hester. This is documented in The Hester Newsletter, Volume IV, Number 1, February 1983, published by Lucile Novak, 16 Smith Garrison Road, Newmarket NH 03857. Reprints of her newsletters are available. Third, I am a descendant of John Hester and Margaret Gilbert of Fleming County, KY. The John Lawrence/Christian Hester family marries into this Hester line in Montgomery County, KS on 4 September 1926 when Cleo Pearl Thiebaud, granddaughter of John Coomb Hester - great-granddaughter of Milton Payne Hester, married Alva Fabern Redmond, son of George F. Redmond and Eliza Melvina Hester. George and Eliza (Hester) Redmond are my great-grandparents. Further information can be found on this line in the Histo y & Families of Montgomery County, Kansas published in 1994. Reference John Coombs Hester. When you are ready to do so, I will provide an update on the John Coombs Hester line as well as any other data I have added to the Hester-Stough genealogy. Good luck - this is a big project. I love the idea of your page. I am very much interested in my own family history and have been thinking about doing something similar to this. It is said, "When a family elder passes, It is as if a book of history was closed." A lot of us have been giv n some of that history through stories of this relative or that realative. Wouldn't it be wonderful to perserve that history and those stories of our families for all of the family to share and know? I had the good fortune to be the youngest male child l ving on our family farm and had to tag along with my Grandmother. She sang and she talked to me. As she sang and talked, she told stories of verious family members and events. I remember some of these to this day. Little did I know then, that she was g fting me with her knowledge of our family history to share and pass on to other family members, some yet to be born. I hope that this web page, means to your family, what the words and songs of my Grandmother, have ment to mine.
